He was predeceased by: his parents, Barbara Hyyppa (Kjelstrup) and Kalervo Hyyppa; and his son Shawn Schai. He is survived by: his former wife Judy Hansen; his children, Douglas (Alessandra), Craig (Helena), Lisa and Michael (Helena); and his brothers, Ray (Patty) and Jack (Linda). He is also survived by eight grandchildren.
