He was predeceased by: his parents, Francis Schumacher (Frank) and Adeline Schumacher (Muske); his brothers-in-law, John Ramsey, Vern Leivestad and Bert Keough; his great-nephews, Hank Tessier and Archer Tvedt; and his niece Penny Yeoman.

He is survived by: his sons, Erik Jon (Megan) and Joel Brent (Tara); his wife Carol; his grandchildren, Tori Nicole, Max Francis and Madison Ann; and his siblings, Susan Ramsey, Randy Schumacher (Becky) and Sandi Shawhan (Tim).

Memorials may be made to the Boy Scouts or Malta Lutheran Church.
