He is survived by: his parents, George Swears and Mary Conard Swears; his wife Ellen C. Swears (Oland); his children, William B. Swears (Kateri) and Cynthia E. Swears (Roger Britt); his grandchildren, Alexa Swears and Michael Swears; his sister Karen Lahr (Paul Swatzenbarg); his brother-in-law Ron Oland; and his nieces, Brenda Lahr and Dana Oland.

He passed away due to complications of Alzheimer's Disease.
