He was predeceased by: his parents, Joan Peterson and James Peterson Sr.; his wife Libby Severson; his grandsons, Tyler James McCracken and Christian Haney; and his nephew James Peterson III.
He is survived by: his daughter Kerry (Marvin); his grandchildren, Camryn and Bradley; his daughters, Tina Garland (Tom) of Butte, Kim Harned (Rich) of Whitehall, Lisa Haney (David) of Great Falls, Sherry Evans (Pat) of Douglas, WY and Sonja Peterson of Lewistown; and his brothers, James Peterson Jr. of Gillette, WY and David Peterson of San Jose, CA. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
