He was predeceased by : his parents, Byron Gibbs and Nellie Gibbs (Sigsworth); and his former wife Fern White. He is survived by : his wife Geraldine; his sons, John (Rhonda), Gerald (Rusty), Mark (Amy); his siblings, Thelma Parmer of Clarkston, WA and Ted Gibbs of Edinburg, TX; and his step-children, Philip Ross, Mark Ross and Glennis Wilson. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren.

In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Montana Veteran's Home in Columbia Falls.
