He was predeceased by: his wife Marie Hartsoch; his children, Curtis Wayne and Arlene Kingstad; his parents, Carl Vance and Doris Vance; his parents-in-law, Lloyd and Olga Hartsoch; his brother Wally; his siblings-in-law, Sharon Vance, Arvey, Iona Hartsoch and Earl Hartsoch; and his nephews, Craig Hartsoch and Arley Hartsoch.

He is survived by: his children, Connie Tofte (Les), Terry Hauge (Russell) and John Vance; his sister-in-law Ara Hartsoch; his son-in-law David Kingstad; and his grandchildren, Gina Kingstad, Clint Kingstad (Dawn), Linda O'Connor (Mitch), Brenda Foster (Scott), Brandon Tofte (Stephanie), JoAnn Messina, Danielle Tofte (Adam), Steve Hauge (Shannon), Kevin Hauge (Keri) and Darrin Hauge (LeAndra). He is also survived by 28 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
