He is survived by: his wife Jean D. Carter; his children, Doven Barry Carter, Kimberly J. Kirschman (Steve) and Walter R. Gilliam (Diana); his grandchildren, Jacob Kirschman, Jenny Kirschman, Corey Martin (Brady), Benjamin Wright and Joshua Gilliam; his nephews, Andrew Denison and Matthew Denison; and his siblings-in-law, Vicki Cramer (Jimmie) and Everett Denison.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Garland County Humane Society, 1249 Ault Loop, Lonsdale, AR 72087.
