He is survived by: his mother Diane Kay O'Brien; his stepfather Charles Laffley; his children, Shawn Robert O'Brien and Shaniah Diane O'Brien; his grandsons, Jessie and Jameson (Beth McArthur); his sister Brandy; his nieces and nephews, Oren, Jeremiah and Decker; his sister Sheila; his nieces and nephews, Killian, Kyle and Angie; his brother Loren; his nephew Caleb; and his daughters, Kaylee and Danni.

A memorial fund has been set up at Opportunity Bank under the name "Shane O'Brien memorial fund" and a go-fund me account has also been set up.
