He was predeceased by: his parents, Dr. Charles R. Canty and Lilyan Canty (McCanna); and his brother Marcus P. Canty (Mary Ann Canty). He is survived by: his wife Joanne M. Canty; his daughters, Mary Beth Canty (Jason Gill) of Seattle, WA and Emily Canty (Kris Peterson) of Belgrade, MT; his stepsons, Tony Sims (Pamela Harris) of Catonsville, MD and Jon Sims (Allison Sims) of Helena, MT; his brother Dr. Charles R Canty II (Ralene Canty) of Butte, MT.; and his grandchildren, Madelaine Canty-Gill of Seattle, WA, Joshana Sims of Missoula, MT, Adrian Sims of Austin, TX, Ariana Sims (Catonsville, MD) and Elijah Peterson (Tyler Ballweber).
