He was predeceased by: his parents, James Oats and Madeline Oats; his daughter Erika Oats; his siblings, Leona Swan, Connie Flores, Gloria Ortiz, Mary Jane Oats, Cynthia Schmockel, Leon Oats, Kenneth Stump Sr., Joseph Arkinson, George, Barney and Danny Montour; and his granddaughters, Ashley Oats and Britney Lafromboise.
He is survived by: his son Ernest Oats (Charisse Heath); his siblings, Eddy Oats (Karen), Quentin Stump, Sr., Linda Stump (Robert Longfox), Sharon Schmockel and Marcella Knaub (Scott); his grandchildren, Emma, Evelena, Maximus, Leon, Edna and Cylen; and his close friends, Leikota Sioux, Leonard "Lenny" Cantrell Jr. and Jeremy "Big Lance" Saddler.
A wake was held on Tuesday, December 17th 2024 at 3:00 PM at the Our Saviour's Lutheran Church (499 Mission Taylor Rd, Box Elder, MT 59521). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, December 18th 2024 at 10:00 AM at the Our Savior's Lutheran Church.
