He was predeceased by: his parents, Herb Gust and Rita Gust; his grandson Jax William Gust; his uncle Rev. Emmett G. Hoffman; and his aunts, Dorothy Karlen, Marilyn Mondroski and Sister Phyllis M. Hoffmann.
He is survived by: his close friend Debbie LaForge; his family Montana; his wife Debbie; his sisters, Phyllis Bearchum (Curtis) and Anita Gust; his children, Jarvis, Kateri, Joshua Gust (Taleah) and Gabrielle Plenty Hawk; his grandchildren, Michael Trombley (Chasity), Kody (Cortney), Colt Gust, Kayleigh White (Ian), Justin, Kaci, Mia (Waylen), Kason Gust, Hudson Small and Jonathon Hill; his great grandchildren, River Trombley, Caelyn, Cayton, Kesdyn White and Skilynn; his nieces and nephews, Naomi Puckett (Tod), Natalie Gaines (Braine), Windy, Heather Kempf, Kurt Bearchum (Jeannie), Zac and Russell Kempf; and his adoptive children, Kim Just-Johnson, Sheldon King (Angel) and Annette Yarlott Scalpcane (Tiger).
Visitation was held on Friday, February 7th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM, on Saturday, February 8th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM and on Sunday, February 9th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Bullis Funeral Chapel (507 N Center Ave, Hardin, MT 59034). A rosary was held on Sunday, February 9th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the same location. A funeral Mass was held on Monday, February 10th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the St. Dennis Catholic Church (76 MT 1, Crow Agency, MT 59022). A burial was held on Monday, February 10th 2025 at the Fairview Cemetery (569 Cemetery Rd, Hardin, MT 59034).
