He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Payton and Florence Payton; his siblings, Nolan, Loel, Lois and Kalyn; and his wife Lucille.
He is survived by: his children, Michael and Michelle (Sanna); his close friend Carl Box; and his siblings, Verlie Lucas (Ray) and Nickie Evans. He is also survived by in-laws, nieces and nephews.
