He was predeceased by: his parents, Joe K. Shoopman and Joan E. Shoopman (Searer); and his brother Bud Shoopman. He is survived by: his wife Debbie Lix; his sons, Chad (Fatema Karim) and Shane (Deidre Dilbeck); his siblings, Dick Shoopman (Sheri) and Sally Liddie (Rupert); his niece Tori Dellapaoleri (Chris); his nephews, J. D. Shoopman (Rachel Mitchell) and Jason Lix; his aunts, Janette Carter, Georgia Searer and Linda Peterson; his mother-in-law Dolores Lix; and his brother-in-law Kirk Lix. He is also survived by friends and neighbors.

The family asks that memorials be made to the Red Devil Booster Club (P.O. Box 343, Glendive, MT), The Glendive Community Cancer Fund (P.O. Box 1144, Glendive, MT), or the charity of one's choice. He always wanted donations to stay in Glendive.
