He was predeceased by: his parents, Sam Athas and Helen Athas (Hamilton); his former wife Sally Brumley; and his siblings, Louise Rorobrough, Margaret Lunde, George and David.

He is survived by: his wife Myrna Athas; his children, Yvonda Haggerty (Mike) and Dave Athas (Linda); and his stepchildren, Tony Lee (Glenna) of Glendive and Shana Kaufman (Doug) of Glendive. He is also survived by ten grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
