He is survived by: his brother George; his friend Andy Creek; his half-sister Lesle Gibson (Henry) of Arizona; his children, Mark Cappis (Martha), Rebecca "Becky" Nelson, Dirk Cappis (Carmen) and Eric Cappis (Courtney); his grandchildren, Peyton Johnson (Neil), Connor Cappis, Reid Nelson, Kaela Simonson (Ladd), Emily Cappis and Millie Cappis; his great grandchild Neil Johnson; his children, Leesa and Dan Triplett; and his close friend Janet Mann.

He fought a very brief pneumonia brought on by the Covid virus.
