He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Robert Nielsen and Alice Nielsen (DeLoe); his wife Patricia Paup; his children, Nancy Nielsen of Clinton, IA and Tim Nielsen (Mary) of Florence, MT; his grandchildren, Becky Thayer (Kris), Brad Nielsen (Tiffany) and Ashleigh Nielsen (Kevin); and his sister-in-law Ruth Nielsen. He was also cherished by his parents and three brothers.
