He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Elton Hunter and Ocie Montese Hunter; and his siblings, Roger Hunter, Alan Hunter and Lillian Barkhurst.
He is survived by: his child Thomas; his wife La Verne Hunter; his sons, Joel Hunter of Texas and Martin Hunter of California; his brother Oliver Hunter of Butte, MT; and his stepchildren, Teresa Berg of Oregon, Kevin Smith of California, Julie Keel of California and Michael Hamilton of Dillon. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
