He was predeceased by: his parents, James Runner and Theresa Heavy Runner (Middle Rider); his wife Marlene Juneau Heavyrunner; his son Jesse Jr.; his grandchildren, Kayleeann and Steven Jr.; his siblings, Wilbur, Marvin Heavy Runner, Mildred Pepion and Eleanor Brock; and his grandparents, Heavy Runner, Petrified Rock, Levi Middle Rider and Rosie Big Beaver.
He is survived by: his children, Steven of Browning, Denise (Rick) of Browning, William of Browning, Keith (Bessie) of Browning, Lisa of Browning, Earl (Hope) of Browning and Marsha Lamb of Everett, WA; and his sisters, Rose Guardipee (Ken) of El Cajon, Calif and Violet Higgins of Browning. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren 2 great great grandchild.
