He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer F. and Violet P. (Swecker); his siblings, Ernest (Ernie), Elmer Jr. (Bud), Alice and Yvonne; his stepsiblings, Don Garner and Helen Garner; and his grandson David (Don).
He is survived by: his sons, Lloyd, Don (Amyee) and Ribs Mikelson; his wife Aslaug "Ozzie" Ostrem; his siblings, Harold, Stanley, Mary Jo and Frances; and his grandsons, Josh (Julita), Darren and Daniel "Dano". He is also survived by 6 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
