He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Winkle and Charlotte Van Winkle; and his son David Jay Van Winkle IV. He is survived by: his wife Altagracia "Tita" Van Winkle; and his daughters, Sharon Van Winkle and Myrah Bridwell. He is also survived by his eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
