He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Jesse Archer and Edith Archer; his wife Peggy Spittler (Callender); and his children, Mark Spittler, John Archer, Mike Archer, Phillip Archer, Leigh Rowland, Teri Cohn, Deana Schlereth and Neala Steury. He was also cherished by great-grandchildren and other relatives.
