He was predeceased by: his parents, Laurence Leslie Mitchell and Ruby Violet Drake; and his daughter Pana Sue Mitchell Schafer. He is survived by: his spouse Pana "Jean" Hendricks; his friends, Dick Kunkel, Pepper and Fiat Dealership; his son Scott Mitchell; and his son-in-law Tom Schafer. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
