He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl Melvin and Lois Rauch (Williams); his sisters, Rosemary Stock and Barabara Masters; and his grandson Tye Batterman.

He is survived by: his wife Jineen Rauch; his children, Keli, Jay Fortune of Butte, Melissa, Craig Barker of Boise, Benjamin, Kelley Rauch of Butte, Andrew, Marci Rauch of Butte, Clara Rauch-Davis of Clancy, Rebekah Mackey of Billings and Samuel Rauch of Butte; his grandchildren, Justin Fortune, Zach, Kyle, Brandon Barker, Brianne, Cora, Ledoux Rauch, Andrew, Rafe, Tayla, Talon Rauch, Wyatt Rauch, Declan Davis, Evy Mackey, Jace, Eme and Samson Rauch; and his great grandchildren, Axel and Cruz Fortune.

Throughout his life Mel donated countless hours to the Boy Scouts of America.
