He was predeceased by: his parents, Victor Ruff and Elisabeth Roemmich Ruff; his parents-in-law, Thomas (TJ) and Ila Byrnes; his nephews, Rocky Ruff and Mike Byrnes; his siblings-in-law, Marian Byrnes and Albert Rider; and his sister Carol Ruff Byrnes.
He is survived by: his wife Helen M. Byrnes; his children, Raenelle Ruff Hinrichs and Richard Ruff (Kati); his pets, Pepper, Salt, Cinnamon and Sally; his siblings, Ella Rider, Sharon Joppa (Dave), Jim Ruff (Reta) and Dennis Ruff; and his brothers-in-law, Jack and Joe Byrnes. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
