He was predeceased by: his parents, Neil Matthews and Dorothy Matthews (Dohney); his niece Denise Curtis; and his sister Jean Matthews. He is survived by: his daughters, Shelly Hagen (Hal) of Loveland, CO and Lisa Durgain (Derek) of Windsor, CO.; his grandchildren, Jashell Anderson, Alicia Anderson and Daryian Durgain; his great grandchildren, Alex of Colorado and Zoe of Colorado; and his sisters-in-law, Dorothy Gallaway of Spokane Valley and Pamela Pitts (Randy) of Cheney, WA.
