He was predeceased by: his parents, Gerhard Schumacher and Clara Schumacher; and his sisters, Angeline, Leona and Irma.

He is survived by: his sister Lucille Hammes of Davis, CA. He is also survived by eighteen nieces and nephews and by many grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
