He was predeceased by: his parents, Luther Merrill and Hattie Post Merrill; his brothers, Douglas, Luther and Everett; and his son Roger Albert.
He is survived by: his stepbrothers, Bill Brewington, Ivan Brewington, Lucille Brewington and Leona Brewington; his wife Ruth; his children, Susan Sharpe (Robert) of Lexington, Alan Merrill (Lorrie) and Ralph Merrill Big Sandy (Kandi); his brother-in-law Les Rutledge of Hamilton Montana; his grandchildren, Nathan Merrill Big (Mary) and Serena Cator Big Sandy (Kody); and his great grandchildren, Henry Merrill of Big Sandy, Dorothea Merrill of Big Sandy, Ridge Cator of Big Sandy, Elijah Wagoner of Big Sandy and Evalina Wagoner of Big Sandy.
