He was predeceased by: his parents, Katie Messer and John Messer; his wife Dolores Gerhardt; and his siblings, Kasper (Veronica Messer), Joe (Tillie Messer), Mike (Irene Messer) and Delores Hoff.
He is survived by: his children, Sheila, Blaine, Janet, Tim and Liana; his grandchildren, Jason, Mandy, Mark, Kate, Drew, Taryn, Dane, Kayler, Caden, Kyra, Nicole and Amanda; his great grandchildren, Layne, Sierra, Carter and Tucker; his siblings, Larry (Diane Messer), Cornell Huff, Polly Messer, Kathy (Kenny Hueske), Eddy Messer, Eileen Messer, Alice (Howard Steiner) and Bernie (Jim Staudinger); his in-laws, Margie, Bob Knoll, Darlene, Dennis Heider, Ed, Patty Gerhardt, Ester Gerhardt, Burnetta, Frances Barth, Katherine, Benno Barth, Eugene Gerhardt and Chuck Clavelot; and his close friends, Gene Lutey, Loren Damschen and Leonard Hosheid. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Saturday, January 25th 2025 from 9:30 AM to 10:15 AM at the Holy Family Catholic Church (217 W Pennsylvania Ave, Anaconda, MT 59711). A burial was held on Saturday, January 25th 2025 at 10:15 AM at the same location. A funeral Mass was held on Saturday, January 25th 2025 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the same location. A committal service was held on Saturday, January 25th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Mount Olivet Cemetery. A reception was held on Saturday, January 25th 2025 at 12:30 PM at the Hunthausen Center in Holy Family Catholic Church (217 W Pennsylvania Ave, Anaconda, MT 59711).
