She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Hattie Lee Ousley and Cisrow Story; her son Andrew Story; her sister Catherine Roberts; her grandson DeAngelo Gant; her husband James Lewis Brown; her sister Dorothy Roberts (Joe) of Chicago; her nieces and nephews, Rodney, Tionne, Cheryl, Joanne Roberts and Johnny Walker; her children, Sherman Story (Roxanne) of Jackson, MS, Melissa Gant (Howard), James Winters of Yazoo City and Shani Winters of Jackson, MS.; her grandchildren, Kadeja, Daysha Story, Lakesha Sykes, Darrell Lee Sykes Jr., Ja'Mayza, Ja'Kayla Winters, RonNiyah Lewis and Ronniveon Lewis; and her close friend Annette Smith.
