He was predeceased by: his parents, Lamar Newman and Nell Newman; and his brother Jimmie Newman. He is survived by: his wife Gerri Newman; his children, Carla Newman Hilley (Mark), Brandon Newman (Angeline), Loren Newman (Angela), Mike Sullenberger, Cane Sullenberger (Mitzi) and Stephen Sullenberger (Tyler); his brother Brett Newman; and his grandchildren, Alac Sullenberger, Blaine Sullenberger, Cade Newman, Tate Sullenberger, Natalie Hilley, Jace Sullenberger, Renn Mackie Newman, Corban Newman and Bret Jolie Newman. He is also survived by nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like memorials to be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
