He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Bartley Stewart and Alberta Mae Stewart; and his siblings, Nelda Jean Jamieson, Joesph Edward Stewart and Robert William Stewart.
He is survived by: his wife Barbara; his children, Kathryn Jo Garcia (Manuel), Karl David Stewart and Dr. Kerry Donald Stewart (Ann Krulien Fairey); his grandchildren, Richard Loren Marietta (Nicole Rene), Kathryn Megan Marietta (Jonathan William Schmaltz), Matthew Ryan Marietta (Erin Ryan), Tynan Lawrence Stewart and Samuel Wesley Stewart; and his great grandchildren, Taryn Reese Marietta, Brady Alan Marietta, Sawyer Reid Marietta, Caroline Nicole Kerby and Lillian Jo Marietta. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Marly and Jo were married for 44 years until Jo's death from Parkinson disease in 1998.
