He was predeceased by: his wife Ellen "Mickey" Gardner; his son Scott Joseph Gardner (Tracy); his parents, Thelma Gardner, and Charles Gardner, Sr.; and his sister Cecile Gardner.

He is survived by: his children, Craig Charles Gardner (Michelle), Joy Funke (Grant), Gay Young, Chris, Kent, Glen Gardner, Kim McAleb (Bill) and Lorraine Harriman (Layne). He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, and 20 great grandchildren.
