He was predeceased by: his parents, Lester Burns and Ellen Weinke Burns. He is survived by: his siblings, Janet Pickens (Richard), Terry Burns of Una, Teresa Thomas and Lonnie Burns (Diane) of Dumas. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, and a number of great nieces and great nephews.
