He was predeceased by: his parents, Samuel Lafayette Butler and Sara Jordan "Bitsy" Weaver; his stepfather Ross Weaver; and his brother Bob Butler. He is survived by: his wife Sandy A. Butler of West Point; his daughter Heather Butler Blaylock (Vaughn) of Thompson's Station; his grandsons, Jack and Luke Blaylock of Thompson's Station; his brother Brian Tedford of Mississippi; his siblings-in-law, Linda Brown (Randy) of Hoschton and Gary Arbogast (Carla) of Loudon; and his cousins, Kay Shurden of Starkville and Susan Elliott of Cedar Bluff. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
