He was predeceased by: his wives, Bennie Jean Cooley Newell and Marie Newell; and his father Clarence Newell. He is survived by: his siblings, Loretta Allen (Emmitt), Yvonne Sisco (Walter) and John Newell (Jeanette); his brother-in-law Howard Smith; his great grandchild Cooper James Newell; his children, Gene Newell, Stacey Newell (Wendy) and Gail Hudson; and his sister Maudell Smith. He is also survived by his family and his friends.
