He was predeceased by: his parents, Hugh James Cherry and Attie Lois Cherry; his wife Alene Cherry; and his son Joseph Cherry. He is survived by: his sons, Elton Cherry (Maurice "Daisy") of Katy, TX and Hugh Cherry (Diane) of Clara, MS; his brother Harold Cherry of Waynesboro, MS; his grandchildren, Austin Cherry, Chance Cherry, Caleb Cherry, Cody Beasley, Mandy Hair and Dianna Blackledge; and his great grandchildren, Rowyn, Lexie, Brooke, Ava, Ana, Cade, Chase, Emily, Charlotte and Lilly.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, January 14th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Freeman Funeral Home (1305 Skyland Dr, Waynesboro, MS 39367). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, January 15th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Freeman Funeral Home Chapel (1305 Skyland Dr, Waynesboro, MS 39367). A burial was held on Wednesday, January 15th 2025 at the Serenity Gardens Cemetery.
