He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Charlie Cockrell and Minnie L. Hearn Cockrell; his siblings, Charles N. Cockrell, Gracie M. Emfinger and Aileen Brooks; his children, Pete Deckard and Terrie M. Deckard; his wife Mary Cockrell (Janie); his children, Cynthia A Porter (Doug), James W Cockrell and Clay A. Cockrell; and his sisters, Lora Wilson (Windy) and Flora Allison. He was also cherished by five grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives.
