She was predeceased by: her father Ophra Carrol Smith; her husband Thomas Henry Oakes, Sr.; her sons, Wallace Carroll Oakes and James Warren Oakes; and her sister Mary Jo Martin.
She is survived by: her children, Thomas Henry "Bo" Oakes, Jr. (Paulette), Jo Ann Dobbins (Charles) and Linda Sue Martin (Jim); and her siblings, James Harvey Smith, Earnest Albert Smith, Billy Wayne Smith, Carol Jean Tedder, Geraldine Tedder, Patricia Wamble and Frances Smith. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
