With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Jerrell Ray Ballard Jr. of Vicksburg, Mississippi, who passed away on January 20, 2024 at the age of 58. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his mother Dolores Renfrow. He is survived by: his father Jerrell Ballard, Sr.; his wife Elizabeth; his children, William Andrew Ballard of St. Louis and Mary Elizabeth Ballard of Boston, Massachusetts; and his sister Karen Thomas of Clinton.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you consider a donation to one of the following charities: Big House Books (PO Box 55586, Jackson, MS 39296), which supplies books to incarcerated Mississippians, an organization at which Jerry enjoyed volunteering, or the Foundation for Mississippi Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks, whose goal it is to preserve and protect the natural resources of the state.
