He was predeceased by: his parents, Hulet Erwin Pickering and Evelyn Maybelle Anglin Pickering; and his siblings, Pauline "Polly" Skelton and John Hulet Pickering. He is survived by: his wife Claudia Brasher Pickering; his children, Susan Slaton (Kimble) and Byron Alden Pickering (Charlotte); his sisters, Julia "Judy" Frances Roebuck and Norma Ruth Caviness; and his grandchildren, Kiefer Slaton (Haley), Jackson Pickering and Bethany Pickering.
Memorials may be made in his honor to Crawford Street United Methodist Church.
