He was predeceased by: his parents, Willie Russell Leist and Olga Massey Leist; his wife Betty; his daughter Darla Sanders; and his siblings, Charles Leist, Willie Russell Leist, Jr. and Hazel Crutchfield.
He is survived by: his children, Fred Leist, Jr. (Linda), Steve Leist (Kristy), Billy Leist (Stephanie), Teri Conerly (Johnny) and Janet Farris (John); and his siblings, Dorman Leist (Shirley), Sid Leist and Carolyn Ashley. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
