She was predeceased by: her husband Louis Nevels, Jr.; her parents, George Ashley and Rosie Lee Vickers Ashley; and her brothers, George Ashley, Calvin Ashley and Charlie Ashley.
She is survived by: her children, Claude Edward Rees, Jr. (Marcarol), Jimmy D. Rees (Robin), Louis Daniel Nevels Guam (Ashley), Oceania, Tim Nevels, Deborah Ann Hayes (Peter) and Sandra Beasley (Tim); and her siblings, Robert Ashley (Diane), Tildon Ashley (Ailene), Alvin Ashley (Janice), David Ashley (Portia), James Ashley (Kathy), Ruth Height, Nell Graham and Agness Anderson (Bill). She is also survived by sixteen grandchildren, twenty-eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation was held on Thursday, January 2nd 2025 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Glenwood Funeral Home (145 US-80, Vicksburg, MS 39180). A funeral service was held on Thursday, January 2nd 2025 at 3:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Thursday, January 2nd 2025 at the Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery (191 US-80, Vicksburg, MS 39180).
