He was predeceased by: his son Justin Smith; his grandson Jaxon Smith; his parents, J. W. Smith and Rose Johnson; and his brother Kenneth Smith.
He is survived by: his son Kaleb Smith (Amanda); and his siblings, John Boulineau (R. B.), Cynthia Byrd and Amy Rexroat. He is also survived by five grandchildren.
