He was predeceased by: his mother Sabra Fox; his stepfather Robert Fox; and his sister Darlene Krohn. He is survived by: his wife Cheryl Seals; his son Scotty Seals; his stepchildren, Carter Geer, Jillian Geer and Peyton Geer; his father James Seals Jr.; and his siblings, Angela Gillan, David Seals and Robert Fox.
