He was predeceased by: his parents, John T. Ruffin and Mary Turner Ruffin; and his brothers, Douglas Lee Ruffin and Thomas William Ruffin. He is survived by: his wife Linda Moore Ruffin; his sons, John William Ruffin (Annmarie) of Vancleave, MS, David Mark Ruffin (Leslie) of Vancleave, MS and Matthew Steven Ruffin (Hollie) of Daphne, AL; his sisters, Linda Monks (Andrew) of Meridian, MS and Kay Osborn of Meridian, MS; his grandchildren, John Brandon Ruffin (Lizzie), Madison Marie Ruffin, Davis Matthew Ruffin and Taylor Ann Ruffin; and his great grandchildren, Raleigh Jean Ruffin and Adam Nathaniel Ruffin.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers donations be made to the First Baptist Church of Vancleave or The Gideons.
