She was predeceased by: her father Jacob Weis; her husband Joseph Collins Melton; her siblings, Mary Weis Farmer, Ruth Weis Flournoy, Mildred Weis Porter and William Jacob Weis; and her nephews, Bruce Flournoy, Travis Cox and Richard Stuart Flournoy.

She is survived by: her children, Terraseta Hummel (Don) of Greenwood, Camille Brown (Gary) of New York and Joseph Collins Melton, Jr. of Ridgeland; her nieces, Carol Ely of Roanoke, VA and Janet Flournoy of London, England; her grandchildren, Thomas E. "Ted" Hodges, Jr. (Melissa), Tiffany Hammons (Bill) and Tyler W. Hodges (Olivia); her great grandchildren, Thomas, Mattox and Gracie Hodges; her grandchildren, Stewart, Katherine, Ansley, Patrick Hammons, Tanner and Grayson Hodges; and her pet Lucky.
