Carol Mae Holder Obituary
Carol Mae Holder passed away peacefully on February 25, 2024.
Carol was born September 22, 1938, the daughter of Maynard and Edna (Strong) Emerson in Cooperstown, NY. She married Grady Holder who was in the US Air Force which took her to many countries and states during his military years. She ended up in Meridian, MS.
Carol worked at the Naval Air Station (NAS) in Meridian, MS for many years. She held a few part time jobs after retirement. Carol was never able to have children of her own, but she loved all children, and they all loved her just as much. She treated her nieces and nephews as her own and each of them loved her so very much! She enjoyed having the neighbor's children and grandchildren over to play with her dogs and chat. They loved Miss Carol and will miss her. She had an amazing love for animals of all kinds and took care of countless strays as she could not stand to see a hungry animal. She loved working in the flower beds in her yard and was an avid walker. She, along with her neighbors, Dianne and Sharon, walked about every day! She loved to shop and loved QVC. She cherished the beauty of nature, she loved hummingbirds, and enjoyed just being with friends! Carol would do anything for anybody. Although distance kept her from her family, they loved her so much and always kept in touch! It was a joy getting a call from her and hearing that southern drawl!! She never had a negative thing to say and always made everyone feel special. She loved her family, she always attended church, and she had a deep faith and was close to God.
Carol was predeceased by her parents, Maynard and Edna Emerson; her husband, Grady Holder; her brothers, Richard and Kenneth Emerson, her brothers-in-law, Russell Wilsey and Pete Braden, and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. She is survived and will be dearly missed by her brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Evelyn Emerson, Sidney, NY; her sister, Donna Wilsey, Melbourne, FL; her sister, Shirley Emerson, Fly Creek, NY; and her sister-in-law, Linda Emerson, Milford, NY.
