She was predeceased by: her parents, Eula Rushing and Alex Rushing; and her husband Newton McElveen. She is survived by: her grandchildren, Eddie McElveen, Melanie Kerr (Mike), Greg McElveen (Belinda), Chad McElveen, Kevin Brumfield (Amber), Alex Brumfield (Lori), Misty Smith (Jeff), Amanda Eggan (David) and Erika McKey (Troy); her siblings, Juanita "Jo" Holmes, Polly Boyd and A. B. Rushing Jr.; and her friend Bobby Lenoir. She is also survived by 16 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great- grandchildren.
