He was predeceased by: his daughter Debra Ann Smotherman; the mother of his children Mary Jo Dunaway Hughes; his parents, Odie Lee Hughes and Queen Victoria Lassiter Hughes; his siblings, Woodrow Hughes and Ruth Hughes Warner; and his son-in-law Mark Jones.
He is survived by: his children, Odie Lee Hughes, III (Debbie), Mark Duane Hughes (Debra), Katrina Hughes Jones and Susan Hughes Thigpen (Donald); his sister-in-law Earline Hughes; and his wife Irma Mills White Hughes. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild.
