He is survived by: his wife Imogene Goldston Schmidt of Tylertown, MS; his sons, James Edward Schmidt IV (Kimberly) and Mark Steven Schmidt (Michon); his sister Carol Gonzales; his grandchildren, Preston Schmidt, Nacole Nurdin Diaz (Byron), Amanda Schmidt Seal (Joseph), Samantha Schmidt Poole (Donovan) and Eloise Schmidt; and his great grandchildren, Alex Diaz, Lane Seal, Alexis Diaz, Amelia Poole, Emma Seal and Julia Poole.
